Magnet - Jori

"That's it? You called me over here because of some stupid project Sikowitz gave us?" Jade crossed her arms, staring at Tori with a seemingly mad glare. Tori had called the other girl to her house, claiming their teacher had given them a singing project to do together. They currently stood in Tori's living room. "Well," Tori said in her defense. "He said to work on it asap.. So.." Jade just sneered half-heartedly, taking the paper from Tori. "Magnet." She stated the song's name.

Tori held a small CD. "Here's the instrumental." She set the CD down as Jade read over the lyrics, Which Tori had not read yet. "This is a love song, Vega." The brunette girl looked surprised, but not disgusted. "O-Oh..." Was all she stuttered, a light pink tint taking over her cheeks. Tori walked behind Jade and began to read with her. "I guess it is a love song..." She tried to seem positive, as always. Jade rolled her eyes. "Just play the CD. Let's try it..."

Tori obeyed, grabbed the CD and sticking into the CD player. Suddenly a softly piano melody began to ring around them. More and more sound was added until the soft melody sounded like an upbeat happy song. Tori smiled, standing beside Jade, who just stood with her arms crossed, with the paper between them. The beginning tune played for a few more seconds, Tori looked down at the paper, then at Jade. Jade nodded, as if telling her to sing the first part of the duet.

Tori opened her mouth, Her beautifully smooth voice spilled from her throat. "Deep within my heart, I felt the spark to start a fire inside. Soon before I knew it burned and left me with no place to hide. Wandering wings so tired, gentle, calm, and yet so beautiful, Are consumed in flames but it's still.. so wonderful." Jade's equally angelic voice followed in pursuit, They sung at the same time. "Wrapped around your finger from the lips to tongue." Tori stopped, Her friend continued. "And I know they still think were too young..."

Tori looked up at Jade, She wasn't too much taller but just enough so Tori had to tilt her head to the side, The brunette watched her lips at she sung. They were ghosted in a light supply of lip gloss, She felt her cheeks heat up more. Jade nudged her side.

Finally coming to, Tori realized they both had to sing again. She quickly caught on. "Tangled up inside these beautiful chains, I know myself, but I feel barely sane!" Then the chorus, Which they also sung in sync. "I want to drown in your embrace, I want to live to see your face, Gazing back at me, with those loving eyes, and I want you to softy call my name, I can tolerate the pain Please just know that you are what I want, And I know that's not a mistake!"

Both girls stopped, Just as the paper said, they let the song continue for a few more beats. Little did they both know, They both thought how wonderful the other sang. Tough Tori might say something, Jade wouldn't. Jade continued to her part as Tori stayed silent, leaning closer to the other female. "Every moment I find it gets harder to restrain desire. This is love so look upon it, watch as my small flame grows higher. Soon that feeling so unknown, has spread without and grown and grown It becomes a burning longing, sweet belonging!"

Tori smiled wider as she sung as well, leaning her head on Jade's shoulder, Who strangely did not protest. "If even if I say I want to stray, I don't mean it." Jade felt a small smile spread on her own lips as her voice flowed and Tori quieted. "I am always drawn like a magnet." Then they switched, Tori sung alone and Jade caught her breath quietly. "Right back to you, I will run and start to cry. I don't know why, but I will till I die!"

Then again, Their soft voices sung at the same time. "There is no happiness but this, Hanging on a very kiss, Dreaming of a day, we will never see, And reality pulls us back again. Even if I'm just a friend, I will follow you till the very end, To the end of eternity!" They quieted, letting the upbeat yet sad song fill the pause of their singing. Tori felt a nudge at her hand, she glanced down, finding Jade's hand back to back with her's. She took the moment and entwined their fingers. No notice was made - just the small tints of pink of each of their cheeks.

At the end of the pause, It was Tori's turn to sing, hand still holding Jade's tightly as her head gently rested on the other girl's shoulder-- She wondered if she was going to get killed later? She blew the thought away and began to sing. "Anxiety arrives with dawn to find my tears. When you whispered to me 'It's okay dear' Did I hear a quiver when I heard you say? 'Just don't look back! cause this was no mistake!'"

For the last time, they both let their voices flow, singing the last part of the forbidden love song and the chorus. "I want to drown in your embrace, I want to live to see your face, Gazing back at me, with those loving eyes, and I want you to softly call my name, I can tolerate the pain. Please just know that you are what I want, And I know there's no happiness but this, Hanging on a very kiss. Dreaming of a day, I can almost see! But I know that we can't go back again, and it may be a sin, but loving you, touching you, Is all I could ever want!"

The rest of the melody played out, seemingly reversed. Less and less of the upbeat tune played until it slowly faded out with the ringing of the piano being played. The two girls, as if coming out of a trance, broke up awkwardly. They looked at the floor, mimicking blushes across their cheeks. "Well... It was a nice song..." Tori spoke first. "Yeah..." Jade agreed, taking her original stance.


The room was quiet, Neither girl spoke. Jade began to walk to the front door. "I have to go." She said, trying to run from the awkward silence. "Wait!" Tori turned and grabbed her arm, Wondering is that was a bad move or a really bad move. Jade glared at her. "D-Don't leave." Tori said with begging eyes. Jade bit her lip, walking over to the slightly shorter girl, cupping her heated cheek with her fingers. She brought Tori's face close to hers and their glossed lips gently brushed against each other. The blush increased on both of their cheeks.

"I'll be back, Vega..." Jade glared at her again, and before Tori could stop her a second time, She was already out the front door with her arms crossed and look of danger on her face.

Still inside the house Tori stood with a bright blush and her hand placed gently on her lips as they still tingled. Jade had just kissed her. Jade! Of all people! Before one more thought entered Tori's mind..

She smiled.

Maybe this project wouldn't be so bad...
